NRVBA Mission: The New River Valley Bicycling Association’s mission is to create a better community through and for bicycling.
NRVBA Vision: The New River Valley Bicycling Association (“NRVBA”) is dedicated to providing bicycle activities to promote health, recreation, and transportation and working through education and advocacy to promote a more bicycle friendly environment.
NRVBA Goals:Bicycle Activities:
- To sponsor and promote bicycling activities to members and the general public;
- To get more people riding more often and more safely;
- To increase membership and participation;
- To diversify rides and events.
Education Activities:
- To become the conduit for bicycling information to the bicycling community as well as the public at large;
- To support bicycling skills education for safe and effective cycling habits;
- To instruct the public, including pedestrians and motorists, on how to legally and safely interact with cyclists in traffic situations;
- To increase public awareness of NRVBA activities, NRVBA community service, and NRVBA support of charitable organizations.
Advocacy Activities:
- Increase the voice, visibility, and effectiveness of the NRVBA and the bicycling community;
- Identify and build networks and working relationships in the greater community;
- Encourage communities on the local, state, regional, and national level to provide better facilities for bicyclists;
- Advocate for bicyclists’ rights and an improved bicycling environment.
